The Potomac Chapter is offering two special opportunities in early April to get an insiders view of two different Smithsonian Institution facilities; one focused on the book arts and the other on preservation.
First, please join us for a very special visit with Janet Stanley, Librarian, at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art. Janet has generously invited us into the library to view some of the books in their collection up close. This is an opportunity to see and handle some very special artists’ books and to talk with Janet directly about her experiences collecting and curating them.
Janet is also the Curator of the exhibit Artists’ Books and Africa at the museum. The exhibit is on display through September 11th this year and pages have just been turned so the images are all new. The books are wonderful and many can be viewed online at Artists Books and Africa.
When: Saturday, April 2nd at 10:30 AM
